JLPSS & Illinois Holocaust Museum Offer Free Training

Lewis University Partners with Illinois Holocaust Museum for Law Enforcement Training

Law enforcement professionals will have the opportunity to better equip themselves with the knowledge and tools to address issues of bias, hate, and abuse of authority. Lewis University Justice, Law, and Public Safety Studies program is co-hosting with a Brill Law Enforcement Action in Democracy (LEAD) training program.

The LEAD Training will be from 8 a.m. – noon on March 18 in the St. Charles Borromeo Center on the Lewis University Romeoville campus. The training is free for Lewis University students and law enforcement officers, and it fulfills Illinois State Mandate Hours of Cultural Competency, Human Rights, and Procedural Justice.

The training will utilize historical examples and contemporary case studies to foster reflection on personal and professional responsibilities. Participants will learn to recognize and respond to hate crimes, bias incidents, and systemic issues of discrimination.
